The Tata Punch EV was launched in early 2024 and became the first model built on Tata’s new Acti.ev (Gen 2) platform. Since its debut, it has grown to be one of India’s best-selling electric vehicles. While there haven’t been any major updates since its launch, except for a regulatory change affecting registration fees in Delhi, Tata Motors is now preparing for a possible midlife update in the current financial year. Although an official announcement is still awaited, the upcoming 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift is expected to feature updated design elements, new features, and a bigger battery pack.

New Tata Punch EV – Larger Battery, More Range

The updated Tata Punch EV is expected to adopt the larger battery packs used in the Tata Nexon EV. The Nexon EV currently offers two options – a 49kWh and a 45kWh battery pack. The 45kWh version claims a range of 489km (ARAI certified) and delivers 145bhp of power along with 215Nm of torque.

At present, the Punch EV comes with two battery pack options – 25kWh and 35kWh – providing a MIDC range of 315km and 421km respectively. With the facelift, the Punch EV may offer significantly improved range, making it more suitable for longer drives and better competition in the market.

2026 Tata Punch EV – More Features Expected

Tata Motors is expected to introduce several new features with the 2026 Punch EV update. These may include a larger infotainment touchscreen, upgraded seat materials, power-operated front seats, and a premium sound system. The car may also come with a 360-degree camera and a blind spot monitor for improved safety and convenience.

In addition, some of the new features seen in the Harrier EV, such as a digital key and DrivePay, might be included in the Punch EV as well. Advanced safety technology like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) could also be offered, enhancing the overall driving experience.

2026 Tata Punch (ICE) Facelift Also in the Works

Tata Motors is also preparing a minor update for the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Punch. This version is expected to feature minor design changes along with a leatherette-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel and a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster.

Under the hood, the Punch ICE model will continue with the current engine options – an 86bhp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 73.4bhp 1.2-litre petrol-CNG dual-fuel option. These updates aim to keep the Punch fresh in the competitive micro SUV segment.
